South Africa will return to the Hong Kong Sixes with an exciting, power-packed squad when the tournament gets underway from 30 October to 1 November at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong.
The squad
Led by Jorich van Schalkwyk, the seven-member squad features Steve Stolk, Abdullah Bayoumy, Ayabulela Gqamane, Alindile Mhletywa, Blake Simpson and Heath Richards.
Experience from 2025
The squad includes three returning players from the 2025 edition: van Schalkwyk, Simpson and Bayoumy. They bring valuable experience into this year’s campaign.
Van Schalkwyk led South Africa’s run-scoring charts last year with 122 runs. Bayoumy was the team’s leading wicket-taker with four scalps. Simpson also contributed with both bat and ball, adding further versatility to the returning contingent.
Group D challenge
South Africa have been drawn in Group D alongside Afghanistan and Oman. The group-stage encounters provide an important first test as the team looks to secure progression to the knockout stages.
Coaching and outlook
South Africa A coach Wandile Gwavu will oversee the side. The competition offers little room for error and rewards teams that can capitalise on every opportunity.
